    Grateful for Quality Representation
I am extremely grateful for the quality of legal representation I received from Essien Law Firm. I presented my asylum case to Attorney Lelia Adams in April 2023. She conducted a very thorough interview to gather all the necessary information. Despite the complexity of the case, she guided me throughout the entire process from the initial consultation to the completion of the application. From the onset, Lelia demonstrated extensive knowledge of my case, her attention to detail is impressive. She is very patient, diligent, and passionate. Her ability to clearly explain the process was particularly valuable. Her assistant Alyssa was very professional in communication, and her welcome at the law firm was impressive. Thanks to Lelia for her exceptional expertise and guidance, I received my EAD and SSN. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking an immigration lawyer. You will be in the capable hands of a very competent attorney.

Lelia was a pillar of support
From the very beginning of our complex asylum filing process, Lelia and her team at the law firm stood out for their extraordinary dedication and expertise. Lelia's personal touch was evident in every interaction. She not only demonstrated profound legal knowledge but also a remarkable level of empathy and understanding of our situation. Throughout the process, Lelia was more than just our attorney; she was a pillar of support, guiding us with patience and compassion. Her ability to connect on a personal level, while maintaining the utmost professionalism, made a significant difference in our journey. What particularly impressed us was her responsiveness and attention to detail. Lelia was always available to answer our questions, no matter how trivial, and she explained complex legal jargon in a way that was easy to understand. Her approach was not only thorough but also infused with a genuine concern for our well-being. Navigating our country's complex law is no easy task, and she managed to get a book-ton of evidence just for the interview. We are very happy with choosing Lelia.

    Immigration Questions, Answered
    • What forms are needed for asylum?

    • Can family members be included?
Yes, you can include your spouse and unmarried children under 21 years of age on your asylum application. They can apply as derivatives if they are in the United States, or they can be included in future derivative applications if you are granted asylum.
    • Can I work while my application is pending?
Yes, you can apply for employment authorization (EAD) if your asylum application has been pending for 150 days or more and no decision has been made. File Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, to request this benefit.
    • What are the benefits of asylum status?
If granted asylum, you will be authorized to live and work in the United States, apply for a Social Security card, and possibly receive certain benefits. After one year, you can apply for permanent resident status (a green card), and eventually for U.S. citizenship.
